Third, have fun and enjoy the activity!!
1) How to Use a Phone Camera for Video

Taking good photos with a phone camera is a great technological advantage as lenses and sensors improve. A phone will utilize similar skills and techniques that were originally used for film-load photography, or its successor digital photography using a DSLR camera. Photography incorporates both design elements and design principles (shape, form, space, alignment, contrast, colour, hue, etc.), which can benefit the final composition of any photo.

Read the following article on "How to Take Good Photos With Your Phone Camera" by Digitaltrends.com that will highlight techniques and applications.

2) SETTING UP YOUR CAMERA, HOW TO RESET YOUR CAMERA SETTINGS IN PHONE
Things you always want to check when you first get your phone ready for taking photographs:

- Ensure clean the lens.
- Use your Manual settings for adjusting aperture/shutter speed/ISO
- Try using a Tripod
- Use vertical and horizontal modes (portrait and landscape)
- Check if HDR is 'on'.
- Focal Length Lock - You can tap on the screen area you want to lock the lense focal point making better results. Try it.

DO's And DON'T of Capturing Images
- No distinguishable faces should be captured
- Use low aperture to blur the surrounding (reduce depth of field)
- Respect privacy (remember that any image uploaded onto the internet cannot be removed)
- Ask before taking the photo (Make sure to tell someone that you would like to take their image, and explain how it would be used)
- Do use well lit areas (near a window, turn on a lamp, diffuse the light through a curtain)
- Do fill the whole frame (make a mental note about what elements are part of the image); artists sketch their design before committing to the final version.
- Don't take photographs in public areas deemed inappropriate

3) Setup Your Camera
- If using an Android or an iPhone, try to utilize your manual settings.
- If manual settings are not available, try to download an APP that will allow for more functions within the camera mode.

- Set your ISO to the appropriate value (100 is for very bright locations; 1600 is for less bright locations); Higher values create grainy images.

4)  Use your Phone to capture some images and then upload these to the Google Classroom

LESSON: LEADING LINES

BEFORE YOU BEGIN: HOW TO CROP IMAGES IN ADOBE PHOTOSHOP, GIMP, PIXLR, or Befunky

- Select the best software or online editing tool that can be used to post-edit your images taken from your phone.
Here are a few options: (Check your computer compatibilities before using any software)
- Befunky   PIXLR   GIMP  AdobePhotoExpress
-Next, resizing and editing

Leading Lines

Using your phone camera take a few images following the style of leading lines.

Capture 6 - 8 images in total.

The images may or may not contain people. No recognizable persons/faces are allowed in the images. It is very important to remember as a photographer you must work at ensuring the privacy of people who might be part of your photography portfolio. The images used for this activity, and the activities within this module should adhere to these guidelines.

Uploading Images for Post-Editing

When your done capturing a photograph on your phone, you might ask 'What do I do now?'

Use an available App, such as Google Drive, to transfer images from your phone onto a secure storage platform. The Edmonton Catholic School District encourages the use of Office365 or Google Drive. Visit: Google Support  or Office 365

Once you have completed the Leading Lines material, upload your cropped and adjusted images to the Google Classroom for feedback from your teacher/facilitator.
