In-camera, you can check your settings by pressing the View button and then scrolling up or down using the D-pad.
In Windows, checking white balance is somewhat annoying. If you right click and choose PROPERTIES, you'll see this familiar menu:

Unfortunately, Windows will only list white balance as "automatic" or "manual." That's not very helpful.
So, you need to use other software to look up your settings.
Our computers all come installed with Adobe Bridge (the Adobe photo viewer), so let's use that. Go to the Start menu, type "bridge," and open it up!
It should look something like this:

Look at the bottom right, and select the Camera Data drop menu. You can drag the boundaries to make the box bigger and easier to view.
Under White Balance, it'll still only say "Automatic" or "Manual," but if you look at Light Source, it'll give you the specific white balance you're looking for:

*** One more annoying piece of information: Because of proprietary rights, Nikon and Adobe have different names for the same settings. So, be aware of the following:
Fine Weather = Sunny
Tungsten = Incandescent
Cool White Fluorescent = Fluorescent
The others should be obvious.
3) WHITE BALANCE SHOOT
Day 12 ASSIGNMENT
You will hand in seven images for this project, each of the exact same scene but shot with a different white balance setting.
Furthermore these will all be shot in MANUAL mode.
Choose a subject or scene (preferably in a bright area or outside), compose it purposefully (no snapshots!), then set your camera for the proper exposure.
You will cycle through the following white balances, in order:
1) AUTO
2) INCANDESCENT
3) FLUORESCENT
4) DIRECT SUNLIGHT
5) FLASH
6) CLOUDY
7) SHADE
*** Don't bother shooting with "PRE" White Balance. ***
CAMERA SETTINGS:
Shooting Mode: "M" Manual
ISO: Up to you! Set it first, then adjust at the end if needed
Shutter Speed and Aperture: Your choice!
Orientation: Landscape (Horizontal)
To hand in:
1) Name your photos according to their white balance: "sunny.jpg, cloudy.jpg"
2) Upload them to a new Google Drive folder: Photo 10 > Exposure > White Balance
3) Add (copy/paste) a link to Google Classroom and complete the rubric. DON'T FORGET TO LOG ALL SETTINGS (INCLUDING WHITE BALANCE).
