Day 13 - Exposure ReviewThis is the FIRST of THREE classes you have to complete this project.
Day 13 Assignment
This project will have you review and demonstrate the various techniques you've learned during the Exposure course.
There is a major twist, though:
- Every shot must be taken in (M) Manual mode, and
- Every shot must use a pre-set white balance setting other than Auto
You will be submitting six (6) images.
SHOT LIST
1) Panning (Review day 5-6): Take a panning shot of a subject other than a moving car. Best taken with a shutter speed of 1/15s - 1/40s.
2) Fast shutter (Review day 3-4): Take a shot of fast-moving water other than using a marble falling into a cup. This could be your partner spitting water (outside, please!), tossing water from a cup, pouring water onto the ground and capturing the splashes, etc.
3) Slow shutter/Light Writing (Review day 3-4): You need a tripod for this. Go to a dark space and use your phone to create light shapes. This requires very slow exposures. Your goal is to only see the light, not the background.
4) High ISO image (Review day 10): This image must feature dark, solid colours, with the subject relatively close-up, although you need it to expose properly. Crank up your ISO to the highest possible level for this one. You should see some noise in the image. Use a tripod.
5) Low ISO image (Review day 10): Same as the previous shot, except set your ISO to the lowest possible level. Use a tripod. Image should be free of noise.
6) Zooming (Review day 7-8): Take a "fireworks" shot by using a cluster of mini-lights in a dark room as your subject. Remember to set your exposure to 1/4s or slower and zoom from 55mm to 18mm.
Remember, these are all shot on (M) Manual mode, and with appropriate white balance settings other than Auto!
*** RE-SET YOUR SHOOTING SETTINGS AT THE START AND AT THE END OF EACH CLASS!!! Your white balance changes in particular could really cause grief for the next user. ***
TO HAND IN:
1) Name all images "1.jpg, 2.jpg", etc, according to the shot list above.
2) Place all images in a new Google Drive folder: Photography > Exposure > Exposure Review
3) Get the shared link to that folder (Ctrl-C copy to clipboard)
4) In Google Classroom, add that link (Ctrl-C to paste) and complete the rubric. Turn it in and you're done!
