*Black & White, VignetteThis is a ONE-DAY project. You can do it!
PART 1: TAKING TWO IMAGES (hand gestures)
You will take two images of your partner's hands as they attempt to communicate an emotion of feeling using just their hands.
Possible emotions include: Anger, anticipation, disgust, joy, fear, sadness, surprise, courage, hope, wonder, distress, fear, guilt, shame, pain, pleasure.
For each "pose," take an image against both a window (i.e. backlit) and against your subject's body. Frame your shots so you see a minimum of extraneous elements. You just want the hands and a simple background.
Shoot on Manual (M) Mode but take all shots at maximum ISO so that you get a little bit of noise in the image (will help later on)

PART 2: PHOTOSHOP TREATMENT (Crop, Black & White, Vignette, Noise)
Choose two images (one each of a different pose...choose whichever looks best to you).
Using those images, work along with the steps below to reproduce the same effects.
1) Open your image in Photoshop.

Using those images, work along with the steps below to reproduce the same effects.
1) Open your image in Photoshop.
2) Crop your image so that the hands (the focal point) are centered and take up most of the frame. "C" selects the Crop tool. It is recommended that you keep the original proportion (in the top-left menu, select "original ratio"). Hit ENTER to accept the crop.
3) Time to turn the image Black and White. Go to Image > Adjustments and select Black & White.
4) What is neat about the Black & White selection is that Photoshop still remembers the original colours, so you can adjust your image by playing with the sliders. (Note that skin tones are mostly red and yellow). Pro tip: If you click the eye-dropper cursor over part of your image and drag left or right, Photoshop will adjust the corresponding colour accordingly.
Press OK to accept.

5) Time to add a little digital noise to make the image appear more "gritty" and vintage-looking. Select Filter > Noise > Add Noise.
6) Ensure that the box next to "Monochromatic" is checked. Select "Gaussian". Play with the Amount slider to add just a little bit of noise. Select OK to accept.
7) Now we're going to add vignette to our image. Go to Filter > Lens Correction. In the menu that opens, find the Custom tab and select it. To add vignette, play with the Amount and Midpoint sliders. Moving Amount to the left will increasingly add the black vignette, and Midpoint will determine how far towards the middle of the image the vignette encroaches.
Basically, you want to add enough vignette so that the viewer's eye is drawn towards the middle of the frame. Don't add so much that the hands are obstructed.

8) Voilà! Save your image as a .jpg (maybe call it AFTER or some other name).
Repeat these steps with your second image, and hand in all four files (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B) to Classroom by way of a linked Drive folder. Don't forget the rubric!
