Colour (Attraction/Repulsion)

COM2205 - HOME
Colour (Attraction/Repulsion)Today is all about colour. Ask yourself the following questions:

- What colours do you like? What about them makes them appealing to you?
- What colours do you dislike? What is it that makes them distasteful to you?
- How do certain colours make you feel? Why is this?

Today's project will have you test out these questions visually.

This project is a ONE-DAY project that is due TODAY!

COLOUR (ATTRACTION/REPULSION) ASSIGNMENT
Today, you will hand in 4 images.

- One image will feature (be dominated by) a colour (or colours) that you like.
- One image will feature (be dominated by) a colour (or colours) that you don't like.
-One composition featuring 2 images that have a relationship with either ATTRACTION or REPULSION.

CAMERA SETTINGS

Shooting Mode: M
Crop?: If it helps, for sure.

RULES

You are not allowed to just take a photo of a solid surface. You images must be comprised of 3D subjects/objects.

PRO TIPS

- Your choice of colour(s) needs to be obvious to the viewer. Make the colour(s) the dominant part of the image.
- In order to make your colour choice stand out, try to minimize other colours (especially vivid ones) as much as possible.
- Useful test: Show your image to a friend. If they can't tell what your chosen colour(s) is/are supposed to be, you haven't done an obvious job.
- The way you frame/compose/crop your shot is critical. You need to eliminate anything that is not contributing to your image.
-TIP: USE THE CAMERA SETTINGS TO SHIFT COLOR BRACKETS (teacher will demonstrate).
TO HAND IN:

You can hand in your images directly to TEAMS FOLDER.
IMAGES will be posted and titled using PHOTOSHOP and the appropriate sized filmstrip to capture the viewers attention.

SUBMIT YOUR COMPLETED JPEG FILE USING TEAMS.
