Photojournalism It's Your Turn Now
You will choose several of these topics (let's say 5-8 for now); to focus on. Note that most software-related topics (Photoshop, Lightroom) are left off the list. Let's stick to physical photography, and you can mention the post-processing software in passing where required or where you want to demonstrate before/after effects.
Having chosen your topics, think long and hard about how you would explain and demonstrate this to your mom, your best friend, another one of your teachers, etc. Assume that your audience knows how to press the shutter button on a camera, use basic Auto mode, and that's about it.
Then the real work begins: Use any resources (this site or any of the millions of others) to help you write an article on each of your chosen topics.
Here are some good examples of the kind of content you might want to write yourself (they're all in website layout, of course, whereas yours will end up being in "magazine" format, but notice the supporting photography):

Stage 2: Supporting Photography
Your articles will be much more useful, educational, and interesting if you can demonstrate (through your own photography) the topics you're addressing.
Ways to add photography to your project:
- Demonstrate the techniques
- Include bad examples to show what not to do
- Consider taking photos of another camera or someone else taking photos, in order to show how to set up certain shots
- You can also include screenshots from your computer (use the Snipping Tool within Microsoft Windows)

Stage 3: Printing
You can learn to use InDesign to create a page spread for developing your final layout, or work within other software to display your final product (Word/Google Docs/Photoshop). Remembering that most pages in a magazine measure 8 x 11 inches with 1/2" bleed space (area around the edge that could be cut off during processing).
