3) Cover part of the sun in the frame with a solid object (roof, horizon, tree, etc.)

4) Consider underexposing the image by two or three stops (helps preserve blue sky and prevents sun highlights from being completely blown out)
5) With the last step in mind, shoot RAW and use Lightroom to correct the exposure and bring out the blue sky as needed.
ASSIGNMENT: STARBURST PHOTOGRAPHY
For this project you will submit a minimum of five images of starbursts, following the shot list below. You are welcome to submit additional images if you feel it strengthens your portfolio. You will develop the images in Lightroom before handing in.
CAMERA SETTINGS
- See above tutorials! (remember SMALL aperture!)
- Remember to partially obscure the sun (except for the final shot)
- Keep a wide focal length
SHOT LIST (minimum...you are welcome to hand in more)
1) Sun juxtaposed with tree leaves / branches
2) Sun juxtaposed with school roofline / profile of walls (architecture)
3) Sun juxtaposed with something else! (plant, car, people, other object, etc.)
4) Open sun in sky (nothing obscuring it)
5) Freestyle / Your choice
TO HAND IN:
1) Once finished editing, rename your four images "1.jpg", "2.jpg", etc.)
2) Create a new Drive folder: Photo 30 > Outdoor > Starburst, and copy the five images into it.
3) Get the link copy for that folder (right-click, "Get Link," highlight and Ctrl-C)
4) Open Classroom
5) Find this assignment in Classroom and complete the attached rubric.
6) Add the link you copied in step 3 (Ctrl-V will paste it).
7) You're done. Hand in!
