1) LIGHTROOM/PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL - Editing HDR images

Source files for this tutorial can be downloaded HERE.
Please download the files above and work along with the tutorial. This is only one photographer's interpretation, but it's useful to see his workflow and try it out.

2) HDR REVIEW - From Photo 20

Click on THIS LINK to take you to the Photo 20 HDR page. Review steps 1 and 2 (particularly how to use the Auto Bracketing feature in your camera).

3) ADVANCED HDR ASSIGNMENT
Advanced HDR Project
Your goal is to hand in TWO HDR images that you have also edited in Lightroom.

For each image, please also hand in the corresponding .jpg that is the "middle" bracket shot. This means four files total (name them accordingly).

The hardest part of this project is finding a photogenic enough location with sufficient contrast. Some ideas:

- Shot in the forest that includes the sun/starburst
- Shot in the forest that includes a open, bright sky
- Indoor shot with an open window in the background
- Indoor shot featuring brightly-lit screens or other artificial lights.

IF you want to try a more "extreme" version of HDR, have your camera on a tripod, and manually change the shutter speed over the course of 5-8 images. This will give you a greater dynamic range.

WARNING: Too much motion (windy leaves, etc.) might hamper getting a good HDR shot. Consider that when shooting.

A reminder about the process:

1) Take three bracketed images. make sure the "middle" one is actually properly exposed.
2) Import them into Lightroom
3) Develop the "middle" image as you see fit.
4) Select the other two images as well as the middle one, and SYNC the settings
5) Right-click on the image you edited on the "filmstrip" (bottom of page) and select Edits > Merge to HDR Pro in Photoshop
6) Wait for Photoshop to open and turn your three images to an HDR image.
7) On the right panel, be sure to choose 32-bit. This will disable most editing windows (which is fine).
8) Uncheck the box that talks about making further edits in the RAW editor
9) Select OK, then in Photoshop go to File > Save. Your HDR file should be re-imported into Lightroom
10) Make further edits (use brushes, gradients, etc. in localized areas) in Lightroom on your HDR image.
11) Export as a .jpg.
12) Create a Google Drive folder called "Advanced HDR" inside your Photo 30 > Outdoor folder.
13) Upload your original, unedited .jpgs to that folder along with your final, edited HDR .jpg images.
14) Get the Shareable Link for that folder.
15) In Google Classroom, complete the attached rubric, and then ADD a link to your Drive folder. You're ready to turn it in!
